This window shows the items that will be backed up which are selected on the Preferences tab.

The exact items that are backed up, if selected are:

  • Mail and News Messages: All of the messages that are currently in our Outlook Express message store.
  • Outlook Express Account Settings This includes all of the data necessary to restore your mail and news accounts with one click, so you don't have to bother with re-entering server names, account passwords, and so on.
  • Outlook Express Mail Rules: All those rules you so laboriously created? No problem--you can back them up and restore them intact.
  • Outlook Express Newsgroup Filters: You won't have to recreate your newsgroup filters, either; they'll be backed up and restored to your new configuration.
  • Outlook Express Registry Settings: These settings include all of the settings specifed in Tools | Options in Outlook Express, as well as all of the various other settings for Internet Explorer. When you restore the settings, you'll find that you don't have to reconfigure your toolbar, preview pane, etc.
  • Windows Address Book: Back up and restore all your important contacts with just a couple of clicks.

Select the Backup button to backup the items. You will be prompted for a location to store the backup, unless one is already specified on the Preferences tab. Select the Restore button to restore the items to their respective proper locations. Select Cancel to exit.

When choosing a backup location, TweakIE will create a folder called 'TweakIE Backup' in that location. Example: if you choose C:\ as your backup location, the backed up items will be stored in a folder located in C:\TweakIE Backup. Please also keep in mind that there is no option to span multiple diskettes at this time. However, you can select one item to backup at a time and store each to a separate diskette.
